How much is a typical service call for a plumber in Costa Mesa?

What the $69 actually gets you
Not a glance at the one thing you called about. A plumber who looks at one fixture and quotes one fixture is going to be back at your house.

Flat rate means we look at it, we quote it, and you know the number before we start. If the job takes twice as long as we thought, that is on us. We are there until it is done, at the price we said. It cuts both ways, which is the whole point of doing it that way.

Ranges, not quotes. Drain work in particular cannot be priced honestly in advance. What moves the price
- What is actually wrong, versus what you called about. Somebody's flex hose blew off their filter and they want the hose replaced. We can replace the hose. But if the gauge reads 100-something PSI, that hose is a symptom and it will blow again. Whether that is a $200 visit or a conversation about a pressure regulator depends on what the gauge says, which is why we read it before quoting anything.
- Access. Most homes here sit on a concrete slab. That changes the approach to anything below the floor, and it is the single biggest reason a Costa Mesa number looks different from a figure you found online.
- Where the parts came from. We buy at Ferguson, a plumbing supply house, not at Home Depot or Lowe's or Costco. Same brand and same model number at either place, and one will be brass while the other is plastic. The plastic one fails inside a year and somebody has to come back out.

Mistakes that cost homeowners money
- Calling around for the cheapest phone number. A figure given without seeing the house is either padded to be safe or lowballed to win the call. Neither one is what you end up paying.
- Buying the fixture at a big-box store. Same model number, different guts. You will buy it twice.
